Folgendes (leicht reproduzierbares) Problem tritt bei Mail.app (aktuellste Version, ebenso wie OS X) auf:

* Wenn man eine neue Mail im RTF-Format erstellt
* in Mail.app als Standard-Schriftart z.B. Arial 12pt eingestellt hat
* diese Mail an einen Empfänger mit anderem Client (Outlook 200x, Thunderbird, ...) schickt
* so werden dort die Fonts "falsch" angezeigt. In Outlook 2003 z.B. Times New Roman 12pt
* die Signatur hingegen(!) wird in der richtigen (unter Mail -> Einstellungen -> Signaturen eingestellten) Schriftart angezeigt

Darauf gekommen bin ich dadurch, dass ich in Antworten auf meine Mails vor kurzem gesehen habe, dass meine Mails in z.B. eben Times New Roman angezeigt werden.

Ist noch jemandem dieses Problem bekannt? Bitte Kommentare wie "Mails gehören auch nicht im RTF/HTML-Format sondern nur als Plain-Text verschickt!1" zu unterlassen.

Umgehen lässt sich dieser "Bug" übrigens dadurch, dass die Signatur z.B. oben eine zusätzliche Zeile hat (die wie der Rest der Signatur formatiert ist, also z.B. Arial 12pt) und man bei Erstellen einer neuen Mail mit dem Verfassen selbiger in dieser Signatur-Leerzeile beginnt. Dann werden die Font-Settings der Signatur für den normalen Text übernommen.

Ursache des Problems dürfte sein (wie in einem anderen Forum gelesen), dass Mail im Quelltext der Mail den font-type nicht vollständig (bzw. gar nicht) definiert. Deshalb wird in einem x-beliebigen Client die Mail dann in der Standard-Schriftart angezeigt. Übrigens: es liegt NICHT daran, dass in meinen Mails seltsame Fonts verwendet werden, die auf anderen Systemen z.B. nicht existieren. Arial sollte ja wohl (fast) überall (zumindest unter Windows) vorhanden sein.

Im Internet hab ich auch einige Meldungen dazu gefunden, das Problem dürfte übrigens schon seit etlichen Jahren bestehen.

This is a very annoying bug and I hope it's fixed in the next version. I don't do a lot of HTML/Rich Text email, but I do need to use bold, italic, etc. It's a pain that this happens.
