Using the iTouch™ Media Keys to Launch WinAmp
The installer for the WinAmp media player does not place an entry in the Registry where the iTouch software searches for installed media players. To use the iTouch keys to launch WinAmp, use the following workaround.
Click "Start," then "Run."
Type REGEDIT and hit [enter].
IMPORTANT NOTE: For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys And Values", and "Restoring the registry", using the on line Help topic in the Registry Editor (REGEDIT.EXE).
Prior to editing your Registry, you should make a back up copy of the Registry.
WARNING: Using the Registry Editor incorrectly may cause symptoms requiring a reinstallation of Windows. Logitech cannot guarantee that issues resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use the Registry Editor at your own discretion. The Registry Editor should only be used to make the following modifications.
Click the plus sign (+) next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
Click the plus sign (+) next to Software.
Click the plus sign (+) next to Logitech Key.
Click the plus sign (+) next to iTouch key.
Click the plus sign (+) next to CurentVersion. The right side of the screen will display the data in that key.
Right click in the blank area on the ride side of the Registry Editor and select New String Value.
Type the following for the path of the new string value:
MediaPlayer
Once you have entered this new String Value, double click on it and enter the following as the value:
C:\Program Files\Winamp\WinAmp.exe (This assumes your operating system is on the C: drive)
Exit the Registry; saving is automatic.
After editing the Registry, reboot your system. Once you have rebooted, WinAmp should start when you launch the media player with iTouch keys.
NOTE: This workaround will permanently set WinAmp as the default media player for the iTouch software.
