Zitat
“Technologically speaking, we are being filmed by 197 cameras simultaneously, every single take.[...]You usually have to save your energy cause you got to do your wide shot. You can’t let it all out in your wide shot because by the time you come to your close up you’re spent. So you have to save everything until you get to the close up and then unleash. Usually close ups are at the end of the day. Whereas here (Avatar filming), every single take is close up, every single take is wide shot, and every single take is a medium shot. And he goes in later to figure out which take he wants to use for which moment.

Interview mit James Cameron

Zitat
They’ve devised lighting software for Avatar that I think is going to revolutionize CG. It’s what they call global illumination. And it’s actually lighting the way things are really lit. If you’re doing a day exterior, you have one sun. Normally you might have 40 or 50 lights to create the effect of sunlight by breaking it up into different areas.

They just showed us 11 finished shots for the movie in the last couple of weeks and I showed it to friends who had no direct day-to-day contact with the production, and they said, ‘That’s incredible. How are you doing that makeup?’ They’re not even asking the right questions. They’re not even understanding that every single thing they’re seeing is ones and zeros. It’s all pixels. There’s no tangible, physical reality to it whatsoever, but it looks real.

Zitat
>Are you playing an alien in James Cameron’s new 3D sci-fi epic Avatar?
Yes. They’re called the Naa’vi. I’m like the Princess Naa’vi. My character and Sam Worthington’s character are caught in the middle of this huge war between this two planets.

>Do you get to do much action?
It was nothing but that! I fell off a horse. I had a horse step on me. I was taking archery lessons. Training in martial arts. Learning a new language. For seven months, six days a week. I was loving it.

>Cameron’s keeping eveything very secret. What can you tell us about it?
The 3D motion capture looks totally real. It’s crazy as hell and it’s going to ****ing make your palms sweat.

endlich ein paar infos über die story.
