Oracle stellt seit kurzem ihre neue Express-Variante als Beta zum Download zur Verfügung.

Limitations:
1. Express Edition is limited to a single instance on any server;
2. Express Edition may be installed on a multiple CPU server, but may only be executed on one processor in any server;
3. Express Edition may only be used to support up to 11 GB of user data (not including Express Edition system data);
4. Express Edition may use up to 1 GB RAM of available memory.

vorerst nur für Windows 32bit und Linux 64bit

Sollte nicht vergessen werden. Die Liste was man darf ist viel kürzer wie jene was man nicht darf.

Für Spielzeugdatenbanken unter 11 GB nehm ich doch gleich SQLite.

... und die maximal-1GB-RAM-Beschraenkung haben sie geruechteweise deshalb eingefuehrt, damit auf diesen lahmarschigen 96GB-RAM-Kisten auch ja noch genug Speicher fuer den zugehoerigen Applikationsserver-Unterbau (eigentlich dessen JRE) uebrigbleibt.
