Man kann nur hoffen, DirectX war viel zu lang ein Cockblocker in der Gaming Industrie, aber ich vermute aktuell gehts nicht um Gaming :o

Bin jetzt auch komplett auf Linux umgestiegen, mir kommts generell vor, dass es da gerade eine Welle gibt. War aber wesentlich schmerzloser als mein letzter Versuch vor 10 Jahren oder so xD

Mein Notebook hat jetzt Mint und Hytale als einziges Spiel.
Mein Gaming/Sim Rig hat CachyOS bekommen. Streamdeck läuft über StreamController, Fanatec Lenkrad, SHH Shifter (wird als XBOX Controller erkannt, aber egal), Joysticks, China Handbremse etc. laufen alle ohne Probleme. Für FFB am Fanatec gibts ein GitHub Projekt.

Windsim und Bass-Shaker muss ich mir erst anschauen.

Spiele wie Assetto Corsa inkl. Content Manager und Custom Shader Patch (ebenfalls über ein Github Projekt leicht installierbar), Assetto Corsa Rally, Assetto Corsa Evo, Automobilista 2, Dirt Rally 2.0 laufen ohne Probleme. Mehr hab ich noch nicht probiert.

Apps wie FreeCad, Cura, etc. waren sowieso alle kein Problem.

Bin damit erstmal zufrieden.

Falls wer eine 2 CCD X3D CPU nutzt, hab eine Anleitung für eine sinnvolle Nutzung für Games geschrieben, ich hoffe die LLM hat beim Umschreiben zu vB code nix verhunzt, schaut aber gut aus:


Edit: Damit lauft dann das OS und normale Programme auf den Frequency cores, und das Game hat die X3D Cores für sich alleine.

AMD 3D V-Cache scheduling (multi-CCD CPUs)

On CPUs with asymmetric CCDs (e.g. 7950X3D, 9950X3D), one CCD has 3D V-Cache (larger L3, better for gaming) and one has higher clock speeds. The amd_x3d_vcache driver (kernel 6.13+) exposes a scheduling bias via sysfs.

First, set CPPC Dynamic Preferred Cores to Driver in the UEFI (on MSI boards: OC -> Advanced CPU Configuration -> AMD CBS -> CPPC Dynamic Preferred Cores). Without this, the sysfs override has no effect.

The recommended setup is to leave the system in frequency mode (default), so the OS and background tasks prefer the faster non-X3D CCD, and pin games explicitly to the X3D cores:

To identify which cores are the X3D cores, read the prefcore rankings, in frequency mode the X3D cores will have the lowest rankings:

On the 9950X3D these are cpu0–7 and cpu16–23. For native Linux games pin them via the Steam launch option:

For Proton/Wine games, taskset does not propagate into the Steam Proton container (pressure-vessel). Use WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY instead:

Ich hab zwar von kaum was aus dem Artikel eine Ahnung, aber stimmt mich positiv dass jetzt ein guter Zeitpunkt für den Umstieg auf Linux ist :D


Größte Brocken:
- NTSYNC im main kernel ersetzt esync/fsync Gefrickel
- Wine-WoW64 handlet 32bit Applikationen selbst und erspart einem viel Arbeit, sogar noch ältere 16bit Applikationen laufen damit auf Anhieb

Weitere Verbesserungen:
- Wayland: copy & paste, drag & drop, display mode changes
- Grafik: Neuer X11 OpenGL default EGL, Vulkan Updates
- Force Feedback
- Bluetooth
- MIDI
- ...

Ich glaub Linux wird am Ende einen Haufen uralte EoL windows apps aus dem Jahre Schnee retten :D
