Slackware Linux 9.1 wurde jetzt veröffentlicht.

Diese Version enthält u.a. Kernel 2.4.22, GNOME 2.4, KDE 3.1.4, Apache 1.3.28, PHP 4.3.3 und MySQL 4.0.15a

Mir wäre aber ein normaler Download über FTP irgendwie lieber. Falls irgendwer doch noch 9.1er ISOs auf einen der Mirrors findet, sofort posten

Diese beiden ISOs entsprechen der Final Version:

In der Zwischenzeit habe ich auch herausgefunden das ftp.slackware.at die Final ISOs anbietet. Leider hat sich Distrowatch nicht zurückhalten können und das ganze auf ihrer Homepage verlinkt :rolleyes:

Was hast du gegen BitTorrent? Ich find das die beste Erfindung seit es Mirrors gibt

Bin gleich durch. Trotzdem diese CDs vom 25.09. sein sollen, entsprechen sie RC2 (23.09)

Das ist aber nicht weiter tragisch da es ein Changelog gibt. Die paar Dateien kann man auch einzeln herunterladen:

Hmm, auf der Uni geht's meistens mit 600-700 KB/sec, und sonst überall halt so schnell wie die Leitung geht.

Über Chello ist es wesentlich langsamer. Möglicherweise auch wegen des geringeren Uploads.

Ich habe es jetzt installiert

Installation

Wenn man den englischen Anweisungen am Bildschirm folgt, sollte eigentlich nichts schiefgehen. Erst muss man sich als root einloggen, danach wird cfdisk ausgeführt um dann setup aufzurufen.

Praktisch: Windows Partitionen werden automatisch erkannt und eingebunden.

Nach der Installation sollte man noch mittels adduser einen User Account anlegen. Danach muss man das System rebooten.

Grafische Oberfläche

Slackware startet normalerweise im Textmodus. Die grafische Oberfläche kann mit gdm gestartet werden. Sehr erfreulich ist das sämtliche Sprachen (auch Deutsch) vorinstalliert sind.

Hier einige Screenshots:

GNOME 2.4 (Links) im Originalzustand, KDE 3.1.4 (Mitte) und XFce4 (Rechts). Gerade die Kombination Slackware mit XFce4 dürfte für ältere Rechner ganz interessant sein.

Performance

So schnell wie es laut OSNews sein soll, kommt es mir aber nicht vor. Irgendwie war die ältere Slackware 9.0 Version schneller. Vorallem der GNOME 2.4 Desktop wirkt irgendwie träge und zäh.
