Beim großen Lian-Li-Tower (?70?) ist der Festplattenkäfig so drin das die Platten hochknt verbaut werden müssen.

AFAIK sollten 0/90/180/270 Grad den Platten nichts tun => as C-A-D said

Wie gesagt: Das ist nicht bei allen Platten so. Hängt vom Modell und vom Hersteller ab. Abweichungen von der Waagrechten (also Schräglagen, bei der DTLA-Serie von IBM AFAIK 5°) und dauerndes Wechseln der Positionen mag keine. (Die Notebookplatten natürlich ausgenommen.)
