Price verses performance is a no brainer at this point. DVNation now stocks the 80GB ioDrive that we looked at today for 2995.00 USD with discounts on volume sales. For the same amount you may be able to purchase a nice SAS RAID controller and three fast enterprise class drives, but since eight drives are no match for the ioDrive, imagine what a comparison of a three drive array would look like.

Hmm jetzt mal ne reine Interessensfrage:
rennt das dann wie ne ganz normale HDD (booten, betrieb, RAID,... )?
und sind Enterprise-Platten wirklich so schweine teuer?? ich mein 3k€ für 80 GB find ich jetzt persönlich schon ein bisschen überlegenswert... (selbst wenns mengenrabatt gibt, und soviele PCIe Steckplätze hat man ja auch nicht zur Verfügung, oder is das bei Servern anders??)

absolut geiles teil, aber der preis is halt a wahnsinn im moment halt unleistbar, wie vogo sagte 3000$ für 80GB einfach irre.

Nein. Eher wie ein normaler SCSI-Controller mit eingebauter HDD - hat also einen eigenen Treiber.

Wenn du die gleichen IO/s zusammenbringen willst, gibts keine Alternative in diesem Preisbereich.

Es gibt ja auch 160er. Und soo viel Storage mit gleichzeitig extremer Performancenanforderung braucht man üblicherweise nicht.

Als OS-Platte mit einem Haufen Applikationen drauf würden auch 40 GB genügen... oder sogar weniger. Man muss ja nicht gleich das Bloated-OS draufschmeißen...

OS Platte spielt bei solcher Anwendung keine wirkliche rolle, nehme an das darauf Datenbanken liegen
