Ein reines abo modell is sinnlos. Wie soll dann windows bei Endgeräten mitverkauft werden? Niemand kauft sich ein tablet, laptop oder pc der nach 30 Tagen (oder auch 1 Jahr) nicht mehr, oder nur eingeschränkt, funktioniert.
Wenn sie bonus features wie support (abgesehn von sicherheitsupdates) oder irgendwelchen server/business features verkaufen wollen ist ein abo modell nicht verkehrt. Die grundfunktion, so wie jetzt windows basic, MUSS erhalten bleiben egal ob gratis oder durch einmalzahlung.

Was meinst du? Ohne das windows rennt das gerät nicht. Paketsoftware ist für den Betrieb nicht notwendig. Was du mit Smartphones meinst weiß ich nicht, da muss ich nicht monatlich zahlen nur um Android / iOS laufen zu lassen.
Ohne Windows rennts schon, kannst ja Linux raufhauen. Das ist aber natürlich nicht die Intention von Microsoft also wirds nicht daraufhin hinauslaufen, dass sich Windows einfach nicht mehr starten lässt.

Ein Smartphone funktioniert aber außer telefoniern auch ohne Vertrag (wlan bzw. offline), der Vergleich hinkt also.

das GUTE an der sache: ich hab damals 3x win8 pro upgrades günstig via ms-aktion gekauft.
dafür hab ich noch xp und vista aufkleber (samt gehäuse) hier rumstehen.
sofern ich die 3 auf 10 upgraden kann, und mir dieses recht erhalten bleibt (für spätere installationen/hardware tausch), hab ich das geld wieder zurückgewonnen.
...gar keine Bedenken bezüglich proprietärer Software?

Terry Myerson, Microsoft's Executive Vice President of Operating Systems, took the stage first today and surprised the crowd by giving an official statement on pricing.
When Windows 10 officially releases, users of Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows Phone 8.1 will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free. That, by itself, is awesome news. But, of course, there's a caveat. Microsoft really, really wants users to install and use the new OS, so the company is putting a deadline on the deal. One year after Windows 10 releases, the new OS will no longer be offered as a free upgrade. Myerson gave no indication of what the upgrade might cost after that.

And, this clearly answers the bigger, lingering question of the day brought on through the confusion of touting Windows 10 as "Windows-as-a-Service." And that is - will Windows now come with a subscription model? The answer is 'no.' Once you choose to upgrade, the OS is yours to keep for the life of the device.

dh ab windows 7 ist windows 10 automatisch gratis for life time (innerhalb eines jahres halt). o.O
mit win8 oder win8.1 konnten sie schenbar nicht viele leute von win7 weglocken und nachdem MS immer mehr marktanteile an google und apple verliert, haben sie sich wohl eine etwas agressivere strategie ausdenken müssen ^^
Klingt ja sehr interessant 
Werd wohl mal den Laptop von 8.1 upgraden. Am Desktop bleib ich vorerst mal bei 7 - wenn mich 10 aufm Laptop überzeugt kann ich ja dann noch immer auch den Desktop upgraden
