September 28, 2006 - 10,000 plus.

That's how many character animations are loaded into Assassin's Creed, 700 of them alone contextual. To put things into perspective, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, developed by the same crack team at Ubisoft Montreal, features 500 character animations. And Prince remains to this day one of the finest animated games on the market. Get the picture?

Of course, controlling all these moves is something of a chore on a controller that doesn't read minds. Jade Raymond, producer on Assassin's, took a few minutes to break down a complex yet seemingly intuitive control scheme that will have you offing targets faster than you can say John Wilkes Booth.

[...]While the PlayStation 3 and 360 versions of Assassin's Creed are virtually identical, Raymond did say that on the 360 the team is putting a special emphasis on achievements. The hardware also allows for improved threading, which will improve even further the crowd AI.

Even at this early stage, Assassin's Creed is a safe-bet for one of the most innovative and beautiful games of 2007.
Da ich die Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Trilogie gerne gespielt habe, erinnert mich der Trailer natürlich sehr daran - ein Spiel für meine Wishlist.

Ach ja, da gibt's dann noch eine first public demo. :)

btw "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Trilogie" darf man eigentlich so nicht sagen, weil sands of time nur der erste war :) *duck*

Where does Altair fit in? He starts off the game as a "disgraced master assassin" (May's words) who is assigned the aforementioned hefty task of ending the Third Crusade. To do so, Altair will focus on eliminating high-profile leaders--generals and strategists on both sides who are prolonging the conflict. As Altair continues to search for, assess, and then flawlessly execute--in public--each target, he'll also encounter elements of the counterconspiracy who want the Third Crusade to continue. Our guess is that since producer Jade Raymond herself told us that the Altair's quest has ramifications that affect us to this very day, the counterconspiracy is probably a group of weird Illuminati types who have lasted from the Crusades until today. In fact, there's a popular theory floating around the Internet that you play as Altair's descendent who's using "genetic memory" to experience Altair's exploits as a master assassin in order to take on these mysterious counterconspiracy fellows in the present day. This same theory also explains that the "computer offline" message that comes up when Altair dies is an homage to the Prince of Persia's "misremembering" his story whenever he dies in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Whichever of these theories is true (or even if neither theory is true), it seems like Assassin's Creed is trying to duck unneeded controversy and focus on creating a worthy next-gen game--not a game mired by critics who think it's about a fundamentalist killing other fundamentalists.
