Keyboard: kein Klammeraffe, keine Umlaute... und interessanter weise komm ich nicht aus dem gui raus in die textkonsole mittels Str+Alt+F1 ...

ist eigentlich ein ganz normales deutsches keyboard. altes hp ohne sondertasten... wuesst also nicht was ich bis auf die ueblichen verdaechtigen (PC104/PC105) einstellen sollte?!

Monitor: flackert die ganze zeit... hab schon ziemlich alles probiert, sprich, dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg, eigene modeline reinschreiben, frequenzen handisch rein .... flackert einfach
liegt wohl ziemlich sicher am monitor, der is sehr sehr zickig (Fujitsu Siemens W19-1). an meiner X800 funzt er prinzipiell nicht mit DVI, unter windows muss man 59hz statt den im handbuch angegebenen 60hz eintragen damit es funzt, .....
hatte ihn eigentlich schonmal erfolgreich eingerichtet (wenn ich das richtig in erinnerung habe einfach per "gtf 1440 900 60" modeline), hab jetzt aber hardware gewechselt (vorher wars ne ati 128, jetzt sis onboard von dem intel-microatx board) und jetzt versuch ich da schon ne stunde rum... mhm

daten laut handbuch:
horizontal: 31kHz ... 81kHz
refresh-rate: 56Hz ... 75hz

55.5khz hor ... 60 hz .... 1440 900

Modelines und Co. sind pfui; randr 1.2 regelt das via EDID. Sollte dein Display einen Quirk (weil es falsche Angaben in den EDID macht) brauchen, melde dich doch bitte auf der xorg-users Mailingliste.

Das keyboard-Problem ist vermutlich auf evdev zurueckzufuehren.

Jedenfalls kann man keine weiteren gesicherten Aussagen treffen, ehe nicht folgendes in diesem Thread zu finden ist:

hab den tower jetzt mal mit nem anderen monitor und tastatur ausprobiert, dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg neu ausgefuehrt.

selbes problem... duerfte also am treiber fuer den sis-onboard-graka-chip liegen. (im bios und bei ner alten mepis-cd von 2003 tritt das problem nicht auf)

wer mal den sis-treiber installieren (probieren) ...

Versuch doch mal eine 8.04er daily liveCD ( http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/daily-live/20080403/ bzw. http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/20080403/ - gibt's auch als Alternate CDs, die zur Installation zu empfehlen sind) - evtl. loest sich dein Keyboardproblem damit von selbst.

Haengt das Keyboard via PS/2 oder USB an der Maschine?

problem tritt sowohl ueber PS/2 (hp standard tastatur) als auch ueber USB (cherry cymotion master) auf.

auf dem ding lauft ein kleiner subversion-server fuer 2 projekte und fileserver hauptsaechlich fuer mich privat, will also da jetzt nicht unbedingt mit (beta) 8.04 bzw. livecd und damit mein ansonsten "stabil" laufendes sys gefaehrden/upgraden wegen so einer "kleinigkeit". (ich weiss das 8.04 eigentlich eh meist super laufen, habs selber am laptop... aber ich hab derzeit einfach null zeit da grossartig was rumzuschrauben falls irgendwas spinnen wuerde..)

waer also super wenn ich das anders in den griff bekommen wuerde... vielen dank schonmal fuer deine hilfe!

Afaik existiert keine XkbVariant "de". Du willst vermutlich "nodeadkeys". Die Modes kannst du auch aus der Config loeschen; dein X-Server nutzt bereits randr-1.2 und damit die EDID-Informationen deines Displays.

Kann man in der xorg.conf eigentlich das Layout "deadgraveacute" einstellen? Im Keymapsordner ist es nämlich nicht vorhanden...

das de hab ich gar nicht selber reingeschrieben, das kommt von ubuntu / dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg ...
