wie kann ich eine usb-hdd bootfähig machen?

ich hätte es schon mit dem hp usb stick storage format tool (mit win98se bootdisk files) probiert jedoch meldet das programm einen fehler beim formatieren

Genauso wie jede andere Festplatte. Partitionieren und ein Betriebssystem drauf installieren.

geht das nicht auch mim diskpart wie beim "usbstick bootfähig machen"?

welches betriebssystem willst du?
für windows musst du dir die installation anpassen weil beim starten hat windows nicht gleich die usb treiber geladen

ich möchte die installationsdaten von xp bzw. vista draufkopieren, um diese direkt von der usb platte aus installieren zu können

für XP gibts auch so ein How-To jedoch weiß ich leider nicht mehr wo aber am besten googelst nach "windows vom usb-stick installieren"
