welche blockgrösse für Raid-0 ?

Hi, ausnahmsweise lass ich das posting in englisch da ich auch auf storagereview.com gepostet habe und ihr sicher alle english checkts:

my setup in short:
nforce2 mainboard - dawicontrol DC-133 raid (Ultra DMA 133 IDE RAID - SiI0680) - 2* WesternDigital WD800JB

i set up a raid-0 with a chunk size of 256K, because i read the following on the documentation of the raid controller:

The optimal setting depends on how the PC is used. If it is used, for examplem as a database server a small block size is recommended. A bigger block size is recommended for audio-/video editing. The middle setting (128-256 K) is optimal for standard applications.

now i got a comment from a user in an austrian PC forum thet a chunk size is way too big and it makes the raid quite slow, scoring almost single drive speeds.

What chunk size can you recommend for someone who plays games, runs 3d apps like Maya and does some composting (~video editing)

4k, außer deine Partition ist kleiner als 3-4 GB.
