nachdem ich heute vergebens wieder mal probiert habe beryl zum laufen zu bringen und das dann anschließend nicht funktioniert hat, saug mich mir dein neuesten ati treiber (38.6 oder so) installation usw. geht alles toll auch 3dbeschleunigung nach kurzem werkeln wieder in ordnung... dann mach ich den fehler dieses bekackte Catalyst Command Center zu öffnen... schau mri das etwas an und dann mal auf übernehmen... ich sag (soweit ich mich erinnern kann) dann noch "nein" zu "beibehalten"... dann kommt das ganze 3-4 mal... irgendwann reichts mir dann und ich sag oke... hab zum glück vorher noch ein backup meiner xorg.conf gemacht. aber seit dem geht nix mehr richtig... hab mir vorher schon einen "big-desktop" eingerichtet (also 2 bildschirme, wo ich über die kante des einen zum anderen komm) jetzt will das nicht mehr... 1 bildschirm bleibt immer schwarz.. ich post mal mein backup der xorg.conf, welche ich auch schon 100x probiert hab einzuspielen (was aber nix geholfen hat) # /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)

lt http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Dual_M...y_binary_driver brauchst du einen 2. screen, schau dir einfach das howto an, aber mit aticonfig --initial=dual-head --dtop=horizontal --screen-layout=right -v
solltest du das ganze auch gleich ohne viel herumtun einrichten können

Falls es dich beruhigt ich fühle mit dir. Ich hab auch mal die proprietären verwendet, du hast zwar ca die doppelte Leistung als bei den open source treibern, aber das machen die open source treiber imho mehr als wet durch diese wunderbare kompatibilität. Die sind und sind einfach nicht tot zu kriegen.

problem ist halt, das meine tolle ati X800Pro anscheinend keine (bzw experimentelle... je nach seite unterschiedlich angegeben) 3D unterstützung mit dem radeon treiber hat... is zwar ned so, dass ich grad viele 3D-Sachen unter Linux mach, aber so eine runde Warsow für zwischendurch is halt schon ned schlecht nächste frage die ich mir dann noch stellen muss, ist wie ich das mit dem dual-head zeug wieder zusammenbring *g*

Ich hab eine x700, iirc ist deine auch eine r300, es ist vllt experimentell, aber es funktioniert einwandfrei, wenn auch nicht so performant wie beim proprietären treiber.
Ich hab auch die 3d hw beschleunigung im open source treiber, brauch ich gerademal für neverball und videos.
Du hast in deiner xorg.conf sicher einiges gemacht post mal deine neue, dann schau ma weiter.

also funktioniern tut bis jetzt: - MergedFB mit dem Sec Bildschirm auf der linken seite was ich mir nochanschaun muss: - linker bildschirm wäre widescreen (rechter "normal"); ob man hier noch eine andere auflösung einstellen kann (funktionierte bei den prop treibern ja nicht...) - 3D unterstützung wär schon fein,... wird aber wohl nix.. edit: Damn... merk grad, dass mein geliebtes Ultima Online nichtmehr wirklich flüssig geht (2D-Client)... wenn das ned funkt... dann muss ich mir schnell was anderes überlegen *g*

Was ich nicht versteh ist, dass es geht ohne 2. monitor section und ohne 2. screen section. erm... ich hab mir den link oben angeschaut... aber 1. ist der für die prop treiber, 2. hads nix geholfen und 3. braucht man für die mergedFB sache keine 2. device section. problem was ich gefunden hab bei mergedFB => 3D wird nur bis zu maximal 2048x2048 unterstützt *hmpf* was du da als example du da gepostet hast ist die configuration für die bigdesktop einstellung der prop ati treiber *g* (welche ich natürlich auch schon probiert hab...) nur eben mir radeon statt fglrx... und bei DER frag ich mich jetzt wieso das funkt

Ist es zu viel verlangt, dass du ein bisschen scrollen kannst? http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Dual_M..._Source_Driversübrigens für die einfachere untscheidung fglrx ist proprietär, radeon, ati r200, r300, r* sind die open source treiber. Die config wie ich sie gepostet hab sollte so funktionieren, die maximale auflösung vom mergedfb kenn ich nicht, aber mit der config solltest du auf karten max gehen können. Und ich seh immer noch keine /var/log/Xorg.0.log Und das find ich ganz besonders schön, vor allem für dich sicher interessant Section "Screen"

ehm... sorry... aber WTF! ich dank dir echt für deine hilfe, aber was soll das denn jetzt? deine xorg.conf von oben entspricht anscheinend ca der Xinerama variante von dem wiki. das teil hat aber den nachteil dass es anscheinend überhaupt keine bzw nur auf einem Bildschirm eine 3D-beschleunigung zustande bringt... werds dann nochmal probiern. atm: Xorg-log: http://rafb.net/p/GV21bs25.htmlxorg.conf: http://rafb.net/p/GV21bs25.htmlwenn ich die auflösung in die oben genannten schranken gib, also 2048*768, funkt sogar teilweise "beryl-xgl" weiters crashed manchmal "glxinfo" den xserver, bzw das ganze sys freezed... aja... und "direct rendering" is halt noch auf "no" edit: hab auch was brauchbares gefunden: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=221174tuts funken eigentlich alle.. nur zwecks 3d wird halt ned viel gesagt *g* edit2: so, xinerama hab ich jetzt auch mal probiert... bringt auch ned mehr... eher weniger, glxgears kommt auf gut 500fps und auf dem 2. bildschirm sieht man die "gears" nedmal

Ich hab gerade nachgelesen, mit mergedfb kommt man nicht über 2048x2048 Allerdings glaub ich, das du mit einem 2. monitor + 2. screen eintrag die auflösungen der einzelnen monitore umstellen könntest. und du hast 2. mal den link zum log file geposte. Was sagt lspci? Und ich war gerade beim herumsuchen, vllt hilft dir von http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_DRI_wi...-Source_Drivers
2007-01-11: I had a problem like this, with hard lock and black screen (but with sync signal to monitor) when X started, that could be circumvented with the "BusType PCI" option. However, further testing showed that the problem could also be fixed by changing the AGP Aperture Size setting in BIOS from 64M to 128M. Radeon X800 PRO, AMD64, nForce3 250, 1 GiB RAM. YMMV. --Arvid bzgl den crashes Ich weis jetzt auch nicht was mit r420 + direct rendering ist die r300 ist ansich auch nicht unterstützt, es geht aber trotzdem.
