Looking at the overall memory score, timings make or break the lead one has over the competition. The difference between these two is in potential. The Corsair XMS becomes unstable at 225MHz 2.95v at its highest allowed timings of 3-4-4-8, being unable to boot at 230mhz. If the FSB is running at greater than 225MHz, the best solution would not be to go for a low CPU speed with ram synced 1:1, but to push the CPU up and keep the memory at a ratio of 5:4. On the other hand, we couldn't find the max for the Patriot RAM. The 3.2GHz (16x multiplier) wouldn't boot at 263 FSB. The highest bootable speed was 255 FSB and memtest showed no errors. This RAM is rated to at DDR533 (266mhz) speeds with 3-4-4-7 timings. I'm sure speeds above 266mhz are capable.

Putting this new RAM into my PC at stock, compared to the Corsair XMS, was an upgrade unto itself. This is some serious ram. Although we got a dual-channel 1GB kit, we only used one to compare it evenly to a single 512MB Corsair XMS module. If you are planning on upgrading to this ram for the sole purpose of running at stock, I'd say the price outweighs the gain. However, I would highly recommend this RAM for overclockers. It can reach eXtremely high speeds while maintaining incredibly low and tight timings.
