windowz media player 9 codecs unter linux

huhu

ich hab irgendwie ein prob dabei, avi / wmv / asf files unter linux anzuschaun. meistens is nur der ton da, aber kein bild. habs schon mit vlc / totem / mplayer versucht aber leider keinen erfolg gehabt. gibts fuer linux sowas wie codec packs, wenn ja, wo find ich sie?

Ich bin kein Experte auf dem Gebiet (

), aber so wie ich das verstanden hab, laufen 32Bit-Applikationen in einer Art von (laienhaft ausgedrueckt) "Virtual Machine" innerhalb einer x86_64-CPU ab. Im 64bit-Kontext kann man deshalb nicht einfach so nativen 32bit-Code abarbeiten, und umgekehrt. Die Emulation von mplayer funktioniert aber so, dass sie ueber einen Wrapper direkt den Maschinencode der Win32-Decoder-DLLs zur Ausfuehrung bringt - welche 32bit-Kompilate sind, die folglich nur mit einem 32bit-mplayer funktionieren.

Man muss also den gesamten mplayer-Tree 32bittig am System haben, um einige proprietaere Formate widergeben zu koennen. Das nervt.
