Bestätigt die Befürchtungen nach dem Riccitello-Sager voriges Jahr:
Unity CEO: Devs who push back against monetisation can be “brilliant” but also “****ing idiots”
John Riccitiello, CEO of game engine and service provider Unity, has said developers that shun monetisation practises or leave them to later in the development cycle are "****ing idiots."
grob übersetzt: "We have heard you. We have not listened to you. Here is a bunch of marketing talk to make you think we're doing something when in actuality we're just figuring out how to keep doing what we've already decided to do. Thanks for your honest and critical feedback. What? Seriously."

The Unity Disaster Gets WORSE - IronSource And A New Tech Trend
für die video-faulen wie mich:
Zitat
The video discusses recent controversial decisions made by Unity Technologies, the company behind the Unity game engine. Here's a concise summary:
Unity has introduced a new fee structure where they will charge game developers per install. This change is retroactive and will negatively impact many projects. Unity removed their transparency GitHub repo, which tracked changes like this, and reversed previous commitments about having the community's best interests at heart. This decision has jeopardized many projects and angered the entire gaming industry. Unity's CEO, John Riccitiello, is known for trying to maximize profits, often at the expense of the community. Unity rejected a $20 billion buyout offer from a company called App Lovin and instead merged with Iron Source in a $4.4 billion deal. Tomar Bar Zeev, the CEO of Iron Source, is now on Unity's board of directors and has been aggressively selling his Unity stock. Two investment companies, Sequoia Capital and Silver Lake, invested in the Unity-Iron Source deal. Representatives from both companies, who have ties to influential figures in the tech industry, have joined Unity's board of directors. The video draws parallels between Unity's decision and similar monetization changes made by Twitter and Reddit after Elon Musk's involvement. Unity is now offering incentives for developers to switch to Level Play, a service from Iron Source, in what seems to be an attempt to outcompete App Lovin. The video concludes by suggesting that Unity's decisions might be driven by hidden agendas and that the company's reputation has been severely damaged. The presenter expresses concern over Unity's actions and the potential motives behind them.

oder "When you are six hours into playing Battlefield and you run out of ammo in your clip and we ask you for a dollar to reload, you’re really not that price sensitive at that point in time”
